Biography

Sarah Gunther maintains an active career as an aspiring music teacher, educator, and choral conductor. She is currently attending the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers, New Brunswick. In the spring of 2025, she is expected to receive her bachelor's degree in Music Education, with a concentration in voice, and a minor in Sports Management.

Sarah Gunther has been involved in many educational opportunities. She is currently completing her second semester of student teaching at Egg Harbor Township High School, where she is active in teaching various 9th-12th grade music education courses, including Concert Choir, Vocal Ensemble, Acapella Group (aChoired Harmony and Tonal Point), and Piano Lab. So far, during her time at Egg Harbor Township High School, she has conducted the Vocal Ensemble at the Stockton Choral Arts Festival, prepared and brought her students to the 2025 ICHSA Mid-Atlantic Quarterfinals, where they placed second, and will bring them to compete at the 2025 ICHSA Mid-Atlantic Semifinals on March 29th.

During her first semester of student teaching at Slaybaugh Elementary School, she taught 2nd and 3rd grade music courses. During this time, she collaborated with all music teachers in the Egg Harbor Township school district for the Star Spangled Banner Project. This project included hours of planning, teaching, and collaboration with teachers and parents to bring 100 3rd grade students to perform the Star Spangled Banner alongside the middle and high school music students of Egg Harbor Township at the high school's home football game.

Sarah Gunther's other teaching experience includes a teaching artist position at Lincoln Elementary, where she instructed choral, instrumental, and general music classes, as well as an internship through the Wilmington Children's Choir. There, she assisted in teaching an after-school community music program for underserved children in Wilmington, Delaware, where the children participated in musical activities and performed a concert.

Additional musical interactive field experience includes leadership positions, volunteer work, and experience as a hired soloist. She held the position of treasurer for the Rutgers University Kirkpatrick Choir from 2022-2024, during which she coordinated contracts for hired professional soloists and instrumentalists for various Kirkpatrick Choir concerts and performances. She was also responsible for finances and ticket sales for the Kirkpatrick Choir's Carnegie Hall Concert in 2023. She also served as treasurer for the Rutgers University ACDA Chapter, where she organized the trip, managed finances, and represented the Rutgers ACDA Chapter, along with eight other members, at the 2024 ACDA Eastern Division Conference. Sarah Gunther volunteered at the New Brunswick All-City Choir rehearsals and performances in 2024, the NJ ACDA Summer Conferences in 2022 and 2023, and the All-South Jersey Chorus in 2025.

Outside of music, Sarah Gunther completed her minor in Sports Management, competed at the USAPL Collegiate Nationals in Atlanta, Georgia, with the Rutgers Powerlifting Team, and works as a personal trainer. She carries her knowledge of education, as well as the progression of learning, rehearsing, and refining skills, and applies it to her personal training.
